GMO-Z.com Trust Company, Inc. (“GMO Trust”) issues a final reminder to holders of GYEN and ZUSD that one week remains in the Initial Redemption Period.
The Initial Redemption Period closes at 23:59:59 Eastern Time on November 11, 2026 (the “Deadline”). After the Deadline, GMO Trust will no longer process Redemptions of GYEN or ZUSD through the GMO Trust Platform. Until then, GMO Trust continues to Redeem GYEN and ZUSD at par value (1 GYEN = 1 JPY; 1 ZUSD = 1 USD), with no Redemption fees.
A Redemption is processed once GMO Trust has received both the Stablecoins and a matching Redemption request on the Platform; a request on its own is not enough. Stablecoins must be received before the Deadline, and requests for which they have not been received will be cancelled, with the Stablecoins subject to the Mandatory Redemption. On-chain transfers take time to confirm, and holders should not leave their transfer to the final day. Provided the Stablecoins are received in time, the Redemption will be completed even if the payment to the holder’s bank account is made after the Deadline. Do not transfer Stablecoins to GMO Trust after the Deadline.
- Direct Redemption with GMO Trust is available to Account Holders at par value, with no Redemption fees. Minimums of 100 GYEN and 1 ZUSD apply. GYEN is remitted in JPY; holders without a JPY-denominated account may register a USD account as Bank Wire (JPY), with conversion performed by their receiving bank and any FX or wire fees borne by the holder. Holders who have not yet opened an Account must complete KYC review before a Redemption request can be submitted, and applications received at this stage may not be completed before the Deadline.
- Secondary market. Routes to exchange GYEN or ZUSD for USDC on third-party venues remain available for both tokens. A swap is not a Redemption and does not deliver par value.
Full instructions for both routes, including the official contract addresses and the applicable risk disclosures, are set out in GYEN and ZUSD Wind-down: How to Redeem Before the November 11, 2026 Deadline.
Stablecoins not Redeemed before the Deadline will be subject to a mandatory redemption under Section 11 of the Stablecoin User Terms & Conditions, with consideration paid in USDC to the Wallet holding the Stablecoins. The process is set out in Mandatory Redemption: What Happens to GYEN and ZUSD Not Redeemed by November 11, 2026.
Holders on Stellar. A Stellar account can only receive USDC if it has an established USDC trustline, which must be set from the holder’s own account. Eligibility for delivery on Stellar will be assessed in the weeks following the Deadline, and a trustline established after that assessment will not be taken into account. Holders expecting to hold GYEN or ZUSD on Stellar after the Deadline should establish a USDC trustline now.
Access to the GMO Trust Platform will end following the Deadline. Account Holders wishing to keep a record of their transaction history should download the activity report for their Account now; it will not be available afterwards.
GMO Trust will never ask you to connect a wallet, sign a transaction, or pay a fee in order to Redeem, and USDC under the Mandatory Redemption is delivered to the holder’s Wallet automatically, without any action on the holder’s part.
